Program Description

Event Details

Thomas Edison is credited with the electric lightbulb, the phonograph, and the stock ticker, to name a few of his 1,092 patents and inventions during his lifetime. Did you know that he had a huge iron ore processing facility near Ogdensburg in Northern NJ?

Learn more about this project that took over ten years of Edison's life and almost bankrupted him from Thomas Edison National Historical Park docent Bruce Tangowski. There will be an in-depth discussion of what happened and what remains at Sparta Mountain in Sussex County.

Bruce Tangowski has worked at the Park as a guide and interpreter for over 7 years, leading tours through Edison’s mansion, Glenmont, and telling stories about life at the home, as well as at Edison's laboratory in West Orange, NJ.
