Madeline Potter, author of The Roma: a Travelling History, will join the Roma Words, Roma Worlds book club via zoom to speak about her latest book. Madeline Potter is a research and teaching fellow at the University of Edinburgh who also writes and lectures about 19th century Gothic literature.
Part memoir, part travelogue, and part archival research on the Roma people from the Middle Ages to today, The Roma tells a history of the Romani that has largely been forgotten or ignored. This is a fascinating and heartfelt tribute to a misunderstood people.
Copies are available at the front desk. Everyone is welcome to attend, whether or not you have read The Roma. Registration is only required if you wish to join the zoom. You may also join us in the Conti Room in person.
The Roma Words, Roma Worlds book club reads books by authors of Romani descent. This book group is moderated by a member of library staff.
